WNAA attend, on average, four missions every single day, from road traffic collisions to house fires; fallen horse riders to industrial accidents. WNAA regularly attends any incident that is life-threatening, where access by land is limited, or where the patient's quality of life would be affected by undue delay. Our philosophy is to attend any situation where the patient will benefit. We have the fastest and most technologically advanced civilian helicopter available taking our highly trained medical team to the scene of any incident within minutes, giving our patients the best possible chance of recovery. We cover a geographical area that stretches the length of the M1 and across the M6 and M40. From the Warwickshire countryside to urban Milton Keynes and beyond, we protect our communities from the sky.
Brackley Food Bank
Brackley Food Bank aims to provide 3 days supply of food to individuals or families who have to face a sudden crisis in their lives. All it takes is a low income and an unexpected event - bereavement, relationship breakdown, illness, redundancy, an unexpected bill to throw people into genuine crisis. By supporting this organisation we hope to give something back to our town and those in need.
The Bike Experience is a charity that teaches and advises motorcyclists who have been disabled how they can ride again, through the provision of an adapted and modified motorcycle which will allow them to ride in a safe environment using a logical step by step process.
The Bike Experience Charity aims
In addition to getting riders back on two wheels, The Bike Experience charity aims to:
Develop a ‘positive mental attitude’ of the individuals who take part. Increase each clients self-confidence and self-belief so that they can look forward to the rest if their life with re-focused energy, empowerment, motivation and inspiration.
Educate and advise participants how to buy their own bike, adapt it and ride at future track days independently and safely
Improve the participant’s physical health, balance, co-ordination, strength and stamina
Bring together able-bodied and disabled people so that boundaries are broken down and myths of disability are deconstructed
Evolve attitudes in the motorcycling world, so that disabled motorcycle riding is seen as possible, feasible and acceptable
Previous Charities
BFoM was pleased to announce 3 new charities for 2012. Our main charity remains the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. We have supported the WNAA since the start of the festival and feel it is still a worthy and highly relevant charity for motorcyclists. For 2012 we are adopting a "keep it local" approach to our other charitiers and we happy to announce that we will be supporting the Brackley Food Bank, Katharine House Hospice & Road Racing Legends.
