1970 and a keen motorcyclist, Alan Clews, had no ambition to become a motorcycle manufacturer. He worked hard through the week for his wife’s family’s chain of newsagents whilst constantly looking towards the weekend, when he would compete in trials and scramble events.
It was only when his request to purchase a works BSA scrambler was rejected that he decided to build his own competition bike; such was the success of his efforts, that news travelled fast, demand for his services grew and Clews Competition Machines was born. The letters CCM would become synonymous with multiple successes in motocross, flat-track, trials, supermoto and road racing competition at the highest level.
Founded in 2010 through an absolute and enduring passion for everything two-wheeled, the House of Assembly was built – paying daily homage to the gods of speed and fuel. It’s the place where we meet, greet, drill, weld, cut, grind, turn, mill, hammer, roll and notch till our heart’s content – creating and displaying our bespoke motorcycles.
It all started in 1996 when Paul “it’s all my fault” Beamish built an authentic American chopper out of a rigid Harley Panhead. When he took it to local shows, it got a lot of attention, not least because of its Ape-Hangers and flamed paint-job. People kept asking Paul where he’d got the parts for it and, before he knew where he was, he was standing behind a counter in a shed selling parts for old Harleys and building custom bikes. Things have come on a long way since then. The shed is history and we’ve now got two large showrooms in Bury St Edmunds and one in London. The business has grown into what Paul always wanted, which is a place where like-minded people can hang out and get expert advice and support from friendly staff who know their stuff.
The authentic knowledge and experience that Krazy Horse has is a rare commodity in a world of fashion trends and superficial nods to the lifestyle and this is what makes us the real deal.
Kings Two Wheel Centre is a family business. In 1985, Steve & Sandra Polden brought Kings Two Wheel Centre in Kennington, Oxford. It was formerly a part of Kings of Oxford and had connections with the likes of the late great Mike Hailwood. Steve & Sandra ran the business between them and in 1989, they decided to expand the business and took over an existing motorcycle shop in Cowley, Oxford. They took on members of staff and continued on these premises for 23 years until the opportunity in 2008 came for them to move premises to a better location - this was in Kidlington Oxford. Their son Craig was working at another motorcycle dealership at the time and they asked him to join them in this new venture. Kings Two Wheel Centre now has 5 members of staff working for them and Sandra & Steve still run the business.
